Leann Osterkamp

American pianist Leann Osterkamp was named a Young Steinway Artist in 2010, a form of recognition that has brought with it a busy schedule of performance opportunities. Osterkamp notched her first win in a piano competition at the age of eight. Upon graduating from high school, she was named a U.S. Presidential Scholar of the Arts by the Department of Education. Osterkamp earned top prizes in Europe and the U.S., including one at Italy's Schlern International Music Festival/Competition. She has earned several prestigious scholarships, including the Baisley Powell Elebash Dissertation Award, which has made possible her doctoral-level studies at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. In 2017 Osterkamp released her debut album for the Steinway & Sons label, The Complete Works of Leonard Bernstein for Solo Piano. The album's detailed booklet was the work of Osterkamp herself. A second Steinway album, including a recording of John Musto's Improvisation & Fugue, was planned for the late 2010s; Musto was a former composer-in-residence at the Caramoor Festival in north suburban New York, where Osterkamp has also appeared and was named a Rising Star Pianist. She has also performed for ten seasons at the Stecher and Horowitz Foundation in New York and was featured in a documentary, On a Personal Note, about the foundation, shown on the U.S. Public Broadcasting System television network.
