Boy Friend
Austin, Texas' Christa Palazzolo and Sarah Brown formed Boy Friend in late 2010, when the pair left Sleep∞Over to concentrate on their own brand of lovelorn dream pop. Friends since their early teens, Brown (vocals/guitar) and Palazzolo (vocals/keyboards) bonded over their fondness for Mariah Carey and Ray Lynch soundtracks and went on to create a sound reminiscent of the Cocteau Twins, Air, Beach House, and Strawberry Switchblade. The pair moved quickly after leaving Sleep∞Over, releasing the Boy Friend EP in January 2011 and the Lovedropper 7" that May. During a tour with the like-minded Speculator in October, Boy Friend released a tour-only tape and the Crystal EP, which featured songs by both bands. After signing to Hell Yes!, the band released their debut album Egyptian Wrinkle in February 2012.
