Scott Helman

Born and raised in Toronto, Scott Helman is a pop singer and songwriter who broke into the music industry while in his mid-teens. The young musician received his first guitar as a gift at age ten, which led to a decision just a few years later to pursue a career in music. When he was only 15 years old, he performed for label reps and signed a development deal with Warner Music Canada. They provided the songwriter with writing sessions with the likes of Simon Wilcox and Tawgs Salter. Helman graduated from high school in 2013, and released a three-track EP titled Songs for Friends in mid-2014, just before the arrival of his official debut single, "Bungalow." The song was featured on the seven-track EP Augusta, issued that October, and went on to hit the Top 40 of the Canadian Hot 100. He was soon offered a support spot on Walk Off the Earth's 2015 tours of the U.S. and Europe. The following year, he performed "Bungalow" live on the Juno Awards broadcast, where he was also nominated for Breakthrough Artist of the Year and Pop Album of the Year. In 2017, Helman delivered his full-length debut, Hôtel de Ville. Included on the album were the singles "Sweet Tooth, " "21 Days," and "Kinda Complicated." During 2018, Helman spent time opening for Vance Joy and releasing the three-song EP Hang Ups. A pair of 2019 singles, "Everything Sucks" and "EVERGREEN," took on depressing times and climate change, respectively.
