Les versions deluxe s’enchaînent pour Schiller. Après Colors à l’automne 2020 (accompagné de deux disques live et des extras), sous le nom Christopher von Deylen, revoici l’Allemand avec son alias le plus célèbre, piqué à l’écrivain Friedrich Schiller en 1998, dont il lisait le fameux poème La Chanson de la cloche alors qu’il s’apprêtait à sortir son premier single – et premier tube – Das Glockenspiel. En ces temps de confinement, Schiller propose une maxi-dose de musique, avec 28 titres au total, découpés entre l’album studio Summer in Berlin et un live qui reprend ses plus grands succès, lui aussi enregistré dans la capitale allemande. Comme toujours, Schiller s’entoure de voix sur ce nouvel essai rempli de clins d’œil à Jean-Michel Jarre, aux Pet Shop Boys ou à Tangerine Dream, représenté par Thorsten Quaeschning sur Dem Himmel so nah. On retrouve aussi Tricia Mcteague sur le quart d’heure américain de Miracle, une chanteuse qui accompagne Schiller en tournée et une des grandes voix de la musique électronique d’outre-Rhin, notamment pour la légende de la transe Paul van Dyk. Le sommet de l’album est bien sûr le morceau-titre, Summer in Berlin, un petit événement qui réunit Schiller avec le groupe pionnier de la new wave allemande, Alphaville, représenté par un Marian Gold impeccable dans son évocation d’un club moite au cœur de l’été dans les années 80… © Smaël Bouaici/Qobuz
