Comment ça, « Six évolutions » ? Titre intrigant, voire ésotérique… Le violoncelliste Yo-Yo Ma, que l’on ne présente plus depuis les quelque cinq décennies d’une carrière planétaire, signe ici son troisième (et, affirme-t-il, ultime) enregistrement des Suites pour violoncelle seul de Bach. Le premier, alors qu’il avait la vingtaine, déchaîna l’enthousiasme, le deuxième – la quarantaine – déchaîna l’émotion, que déchaînera cette vision finale de la soixantaine bien entamée ? La sérénité et la joie, sans nul doute, l’aboutissement d’une triple évolution discographique. Cela dit, on n’explique toujours pas les « Six évolutions », et il faut fouiller dans un recoin du livret d’accompagnement pour y trouver une indication, guère plus informative il est vrai puisqu’elle n’est accompagnée d’aucun éclaircissement : 1) La nature en jeu, 2) Voyage vers la lumière, 3) Célébration, 4) Construction/Elaboration, 5) Lutte pour l’espoir, et 6) Epiphanie. Bon… Quoi qu’il en soit, et malgré sa déclaration – et la qualité extraordinaire de cette lecture – on se donne rendez-vous vers 2038 pour voir s’il ne décide pas quand même de redonner une lecture des quatre-vingt ans ! © SM/Qobuz
