Petrol Girls

Petrol Girls are a London hardcore punk combo whose ferocious musical attack and outspoken feminist messages earned critical praise and a loyal fan base in the mid-2010s. After a pair of well-received EPs, the group issued their full-length debut in 2016 before signing to the Hassle label for 2019's follow-up, Cut & Stitch. Formed by singer Ren Aldridge to play at a 2012 house party she was hosting in honor of International Women's Day, the band also includes bassist Liepa Kuraitė, guitarist Joe York, and drummer Zock Astpai. Taking their name from the 19th century French revolutionary group, Pétroleuses, they self-released their eponymous 7" in 2014 and began creating a buzz in the London underground with their explosive live show. A second EP, Some Thing, arrived in 2016 and was followed later that year by the full-length Talk of Violence, on Bomber Records. 2018's "Survivor" single was paired with the announcement that Petrol Girls had signed with U.K. punk specialists Hassle Records, which released the band's sophomore outing, Cut & Stitch, in 2019.
