Pour ces quatre-là, la séquence avant/après porte un titre : Reach Out. Avant ce quatrième album des Four Tops, le leader Levi Stubbs et ses complices Abdul "Duke" Fakir, Renaldo "Obie" Benson et Lawrence Payton sont d’impeccables chanteurs/crooners de R&B mâtiné de blues et de gospel, ayant souvent œuvré comme choristes pour de nombreux artistes Motown, et qui possèdent une bonne base de fans. Après, la formation devient le groupe de pop soul le plus populaire de 1967 grâce aux nouvelles pépites de la dream team du label, Holland-Dozier-Holland… Entre les chansons originales (évidemment Reach Out I'll Be There mais aussi Standing in the Shadows of Love, Bernadette, I’ll Turn to Stone et 7 Rooms of Gloom) et les reprises de goût (If I Were a Carpenter de Tim Hardin, Walk Away Renée de The Left Banke, Cherish de The Association et deux tubes des Monkees, Last Train to Clarksville et I'm a Believer), Reach Out est un bolide de hits lancé à mille à l’heure.
