Orfeo Orchestra, le chaînon manquant du XVIIIe siècle français

Très actif dans la musique baroque française depuis ses premières parutions au début des années 90, l'Orfeo Orchestra, dirigé par György Vashegyi, a été, ces dernières années, distingué par le Palazzetto Bru Zane et surtout le Centre de musique baroque de Versailles pour sa série d'explorations discographiques ambitieuses du répertoire lyrique français – baroque et classique.

Gounod romantique et mystique

Artisan majeur du renouveau de la musique française dans la seconde moitié du XIXe siècle aux côtés de son aîné, Berlioz, qu’il admirait, et de ses disciples, Bizet, Saint-Saëns, Massenet qui vénéraient sa foi en l’Art, Charles Gounod (1818-1893), mystique et charmeur, romantique en quête d’un nouveau classicisme, doit sa célébrité à quelques chefs-d’œuvre qui réduisent son envergure. Une discographie en plein essor permet de découvrir sa musique dans sa diversité : instrumentale, vocale, sacrée et lyrique.

Dans la peau de Debussy : la genèse tourmentée de Pelléas et Mélisande 

Entre l'été 1893 et le 17 août 1895, Claude Debussy écrit son unique opéra Pelléas et Mélisande, qu'il n'orchestrera pourtant qu’en 1902, une fois les représentations enfin annoncées. Chronique en trois feuilletons des avancées et ratés de la création de cette œuvre, qui, par son anticonformisme, allait déconcerter puis conquérir le public, faisant la gloire d’un compositeur jusque-là désargenté.
