Il porte bien son nom : béni des dieux, Isaac Gracie baigne dans la grâce. Celle d’une orchestration vêtue d’une guitare et d'une voix à part. Courbe et tourbée pour ses 22 printemps. Depuis la sortie de son EP homemade From my Bedroom, et un statut de crooner né, Isaac a fait du chemin. Entrant sous la lumière des BBC Introducing, première partie d’Angus & Julia Stone, à l’affiche du Glastonbury, Great Escape et SXSW, le jeune Londonien a dépassé les frontières de l’Angleterre. Songwriter aguerri, éduqué à Dylan et la Beat Generation de Kerouac par sa mère-poétesse Judith, Gracie explique noircir son folk dans ses malaises. L’inverse serait mentir. Sans doute les stigmates de la chorale d’Ealing dont il squatta les bancs de 11 à 15 ans... En 2016, son EP studio The Death of You & I envoyait déjà quatre titres prometteurs, plus nerveux. Le blondinet aux vagues allures de Kurt Cobain s’est assagi : voix juvénile et textes introspectifs. Batteries et piano légers viendront juste troubler cette intimité des plus matures.
