Espectrostatic

Espectrostatic is the horror movie soundtrack-inspired project of Alex Cuervo, better known for his work over the years with punk and garage acts such as the Hex Dispensers, A Feast of Snakes, and Blacktop. A composer and sound editor by day, Cuervo released a couple of EPs under his own name in 2011 -- Hallo Mein Name Ist Alex Cuervo for Red Lounge and 4-Song Solo EP for Trouble in Mind -- that revealed a darker, synth-driven side to his music. Cuervo went further down that path with Espectrostatic's 2012 debut EP, Skeletactical. Paying homage to greats like John Carpenter, Goblin, and Tangerine Dream, the EP's eerie atmospheres laid the groundwork for a self-titled full-length, which arrived in November 2013. The following year, Espectrostatic issued a pair of EPs, Daemonum and Phantominom VGS (an '80s video game music-inspired collection that raised funds for the medical bills of Cuervo's Hex Dispensers bandmate Rebecca Whitley) before the October release of the full-length Escape from Witchtropolis. In 2015, several of Espectrostatic's songs were used in the acclaimed horror film Last Girl Standing. Cuervo took a more streamlined and ominous approach on 2016's Silhouette, which was issued on vinyl the following year by Burning Witches.
