Six années après Helplessness Blues, les Fleet Foxes sortent de leur tanière. Six années qui ne semblent pas avoir profondément modifié l’ADN de la bande de ces brillants folkeux originaires de Seattle, toujours aussi obsédés par les harmonies vocales. Avec Crack-Up, Robin Pecknold (qui s’était volontairement retiré du monde de la musique pour retourner étudier à la fac) n’a toujours aucun problème métaphysique pour jouer des coudes pour s’immiscer entre Crosby Stills Nash & Young et les Beach Boys. Dans son habituel halo de réverb’ quasi-mystique, la musique des Fleets Foxes associe à nouveau sur ce troisième album le bien-être physique que peut procurer une production de Brian Wilson et la subtilité de chansons à tiroirs harmoniques comme David Crosby en enregistra au siècle dernier sur son dément If I Could Only Remember My Name. Entre une ballade bucolique et une envolée quasi-baroque, ce folk luxueux aux arrangements de toute beauté fait de Crack-Up un disque impressionnant et habité. © MD/Qobuz
