Willa Amai

A songwriter whose vulnerable pop songs and fragile delivery won her industry mentorship as a preteen, Willa Amai emerged as a solo artist in 2017. After garnering sync placements with her earliest tracks, her duet version of "Here You Come Again" with none other than Dolly Parton attracted millions of streams. Amai's full-length debut, I Can Go to Bed Whenever, appeared in 2021. A Los Angeles native, Willa Amai made a fast fan and advocate in famed songwriter/producer Linda Perry when she was only 12. Amai had begun writing songs at the age of nine after a favorite teacher piqued her interest in poetry. When she had the opportunity to play an original song for Perry in December of 2016, Perry responded by offering to work with her in the studio. The following year, Amai issued a warmer cover of Daft Punk's "Harder Better Faster Stronger" for a tech-company TV ad. Later in 2017, her song "Scars" was featured on the compilation Served Like a Girl: Music from and Inspired by the Documentary Film. In 2018, Amai recorded "Here You Come Again" -- a hit for Dolly Parton in 1978 -- in duet with Parton herself for the Dumplin' motion picture soundtrack. She followed it with a string of singles, including 2019's "Trampled Flowers and" 2020's "What's Up," before delivering her first album, I Can Go to Bed Whenever, at the age of 17. It arrived on We Are Hear, Linda Perry's label with Kerry Brown, in June 2021.
