Born in the middle of the electronic wave that gripped Paris during the 2010s, Pont Neuf Records managed to make a name for itself amid the jungle of labels and collectives that grew up on the banks of the Seine. Five years and 25 releases later, this label is still exploring the French house scene, this time with Volume 2 of the Hexagonal Club compilation. The tracklist reveals two big names: Flabaire, who has contributed a very atmospheric track (Sleeve), while Tour Meaubourg (an early signing who released his debut album Paradis Artificiels in 2020) gives us a deep and funky sound on Deep Oddities. This collection takes us through all the different aspects of house, from New York's Mad Cat (Cala Soana); Theos with the cowbell that Kerri Chandler loves so much on Wanna Go Out; and Kx9000's Gambling House, one of the best tracks on the album. We finish off with a final dark, techno passage with Berzingue and Vitess: a sign that Pont Neuf Records is still very much open to new ideas. © Smaël Bouaici/Qobuz
