Sultan + Shepard

A Canadian EDM/progressive house duo, Quebec's Sultan + Shepard have built a reputation for crafting chart-topping productions and remixes since their 2002 debut. They found critical and commercial success via collaborations with EDM giants Tiësto and Dillon Francis and remixes for Coldplay, Madonna, Ed Sheeran, and Lady Gaga. The pair earned Juno and Grammy Award nominations for their 2013 remix of Bruno Mars' "Locked Out of Heaven." They issued their first full-length album, Echoes of Life, in 2019 and elicited critical acclaim for subsequent efforts Something, Everything (2021), Forever, Now (2023), and Endless, Dawn (2024). Built around the talents of producers/artists/DJs Ossama Al Sarraf (Sultan) and Ned Shepard (Shepard), who cite Brian Eno, Daft Punk, Underworld, the Chemical Brothers, and Deep Dish as influences, the duo met in the late '90s while attending McGill University in Montreal. After immersing themselves in the city's busy electronic music scene, they began releasing a flurry of remixes and original tracks, including hit collaborations with Funkagenda ("Past Dreaming") and Dirty Vegas ("Crimson Sun"). Subsequent productions with Dillon Francis, Junior Sanchez, David Guetta, Vassy, and the Boxer Rebellion, among others, yielded praise both at home and abroad, and the duo also landed a Grammy nomination for their remix of Bruno Mars' "Locked Out of Heaven." In 2019, they paired with Showtek on "We Found Love" and Bahari and Rock Mafia on the single "Miles to Your Heart." 2019 also saw the release of the double LP Echoes of Life, which included the hits "Almost Home," "Bloom," and "The Way." Collaborations with Jon Hopkins, Angela McCluskey, Shallou, and Le Youth preceded the arrival of their sophomore long-player, 2021's acclaimed Something, Everything. 2023's Forever, Now featured collaborations with Julia Church, Andrew Belle, and Delhia de France. Later that year, the duo teamed up with Nathan Nicholson on "Under the Surface," the lead single for their fourth album, Endless, Dawn, which appeared in March 2024.
