Sonya Belousova

Los Angeles-based Sonya Belousova is an award-winning musician who turned a youth spent as a piano prodigy in her native Russia into a career composing for film and television. She made a breakthrough in the late 2010s alongside creative partner Giona Ostinelli with the epic fantasy series The Witcher, which featured the viral hit song "Toss a Coin to Your Witcher." Born and raised in St. Petersburg, Belousova was a child prodigy, playing piano and composing music before she was even a teenager. After wrapping up her studies in Russia, she attended both Berklee College of Music and UCLA, where she studied film scoring. In addition to notable work for properties such as Dexter and The Mist, she also wrote music for American ballet productions and Player Piano, a pop culture piano series produced by Stan Lee. Alongside Ostinelli, she made her mainstream breakthrough in 2019 with the fantasy series The Witcher, which was developed from the popular book/video game. After the premier, a song from the show -- "Toss a Coin to Your Witcher," sung by actor Joey Batey -- became a phenomenal success with both critics and fans alike, climbing the Billboard charts in early 2020. That January, the official soundtrack was issued, compiling the best of Belousova and Ostinelli's eclectic, genre-spanning score, and featuring additional vocal contributions from Batey and Declan DeBarra.
