Museum of Love

Eclectic dance-rock duo Museum of Love juggle influences from Bryan Ferry and John Cale to house, dub, and Krautrock. Consisting of DFA associates Pat Mahoney and Dennis McNany, the pair released their self-titled debut in 2014. The duo occasionally issued singles and remixes, then returned with their second full-length, Life of Mammals, in 2021. LCD Soundsystem drummer Pat Mahoney and producer/engineer Dennis McNany (aka Jee Day) founded Museum of Love in 2013. With Mahoney on vocals and McNany, who also founded Run-Roc Records, handling most of the production duties, the duo's sound is a little softer and more esoteric than most of the acts released by DFA: the project's name is from a Daniel Johnston song and further inspiration comes from Harry Nilsson and Roxy Music. However, their music is still danceable, as the duo's remix of Battles' "My Machines" and the 2013 singles "Down South" and "Monotronic" revealed. Museum of Love's self-titled debut arrived on DFA in October 2014. The Remixes followed in 2015, and the duo remixed songs by Zoé and Mark E. A single titled "Marching Orders" appeared on the duo's eponymous label in 2018. Museum of Love signed to Skint and issued a slightly cabaret-esque single called "Cluttered World" in March 2021. Life of Mammals, produced by the band and mixed by LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy, was released the following July.
