Michael Cox

b. Michael James Cox, Liverpool, England. After his sisters wrote to producer Jack Good demanding an audition, Cox found himself transformed into a television singing star. Fellow pop singer Marty Wilde kindly presented him with a demo of John D. Loudermilk’s ‘Angela Jones’, which brought Cox a UK Top 10 hit in 1960. Only one minor success followed, ‘Along Came Caroline’, but the singer enjoyed considerable success in Scandinavia where he toured with the Outlaws, featuring Ritchie Blackmore. Several continental jaunts kept Cox in regular work during the mid-60s and beyond. Following a bizarre experience with a ouija board, he decided to abandon his surname and call himself simply Michael James. Today he still plays the cabaret circuit and has also acted in several minor film productions.
