Mariana Florès
Soprano Mariana Florès was born in Mendoza, Argentina, and attended the Universidad Nacional de Cuyo, graduating in 2003. She continued her studies at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, where she worked with Rosa Domínguez until 2008. Florès has become identified with the early music movement through her performances of operas, cantatas, madrigals, and other works by Claudio Monteverdi, Francesco Cavalli, and Antonio Vivaldi, and she performed the role of Aurora in Cephale et Procris by Élisabeth-Claude Jacquet de la Guerre, in a revival by Musica Fiorita, conducted by Daniela Dolci. Florès has also sung with Cappella Mediterranea, led by her husband, conductor Leonardo Garcia Alarcón, and performed music by Girolamo Frescobaldi and Barbara Strozzi. Florès has recorded on the Ricercar label.
