Kuroma
Athens, Georgia multi-instrumentalist Hank Sullivant was a founding member of indie act the Whigs and served as a talented producer around town before launching his own brainchild with the psychedelic hook-laden pop of Kuroma. The band's first recorded output came in the form of 2007 debut album Paris, a studio creation crafted with help from childhood friend James Richardson and a host of other musicians and studio collaborators. Shortly after the recording of Paris, Sullivant was asked by MGMT to join on as their touring guitarist, a gig that relocated him to New York and took up all of his time for about a year or so. After Sullivant's return to Athens, Kuroma dabbled in performance art showcases and various tours as they prepared their second album. The double album Psychopomp materialized in 2010 and the band's profile grew with performances at the Bonaroo festival as well as opening spots for MGMT and Tame Impala. By 2013 the band lineup had solidified to include Sullivant and Richardson with newcomers Simon O'Connor and William Berman aiding the proceedings in both the live setting and on recordings. Third album Kuromarama surfaced in April of 2015. For Kuroma's next album, 2016's Dark Horse Rides Again, Sullivant took inspiration from his conversion to Catholicism.
