Das neunte Studioalbum von Jethro Tull war auch gleichzeitig das letzte Konzeptalbum der britischen Prog-Rock-Band – und verkaufte sich nicht so gut wie seine Vorgänger, nachdem es bei Kritikern und Fans wenig Wohlwollen fand. Die Geschichte des 1976 erschienenen Albums dreht sich um einen alternden Rock'n'Roll-Star, Ray Lomas, der sich nach seinen jungen Jahren zurücksehnt – wobei die Songs der Platte teils von der Geschichte der mitgelieferten Zeichnungen abweichen. Der Titelsong entwickelte sich dennoch zum Konzert-Klassiker. Ein 2015 veröffentlichtes Boxset gibt Gelegenheit, das Album neu zu entdecken: Zum Album wurde ein TV-Film produziert, für den die Musik damals neu eingespielt wurde. Porcupine-Tree-Mastermind Steven Wilson nahm diese Aufnahmen als Basis für eine neue Abmischung des Albums und fügte diverse Bonustracks hinzu, die zusammen mit dem TV-Special und einem 80-seitigen Booklet präsentiert werden.

Albumbeschreibung

Das neunte Studioalbum von Jethro Tull war auch gleichzeitig das letzte Konzeptalbum der britischen Prog-Rock-Band – und verkaufte sich nicht so gut wie seine Vorgänger, nachdem es bei Kritikern und Fans wenig Wohlwollen fand. Die Geschichte des 1976 erschienenen Albums dreht sich um einen alternden Rock'n'Roll-Star, Ray Lomas, der sich nach seinen jungen Jahren zurücksehnt – wobei die Songs der Platte teils von der Geschichte der mitgelieferten Zeichnungen abweichen. Der Titelsong entwickelte sich dennoch zum Konzert-Klassiker. Ein 2015 veröffentlichtes Boxset gibt Gelegenheit, das Album neu zu entdecken: Zum Album wurde ein TV-Film produziert, für den die Musik damals neu eingespielt wurde. Porcupine-Tree-Mastermind Steven Wilson nahm diese Aufnahmen als Basis für eine neue Abmischung des Albums und fügte diverse Bonustracks hinzu, die zusammen mit dem TV-Special und einem 80-seitigen Booklet präsentiert werden.
