Increíblemente versátil y preciso, Steve Gadd lleva 50 años siendo uno de los baterías más solicitados y grabados de la historia de la música moderna. Junto a ilustres compañeros como Buddy Rich, Bernard 'Pretty' Purdie o Tony Williams, Gadd ha modernizado la batería convirtiendo el instrumento en un auténtico líder dentro de cualquier grabación o formación. Steve Gadd, sin duda uno de los músicos más influyentes a partir de la década de 1970, consiguió crear un lenguaje y un sonido totalmente nuevos para la batería, reconocibles a primera vista e imitados por varias generaciones de batería. Su gran técnica, precisión y elegancia contribuyeron a hacer de algunas grabaciones de pop, jazz, soul, funk y rock verdaderas obras maestras.
