Después de recorrer la Costa Oeste con sus Clams, Shannon Shaw se fue a Nashville, como Dusty Springfield, en 1968. Como un guiño seguro a Dusty in Memphis, este primer álbum en solitario marca el comienzo de una emancipación. Shannon & The Clams son esta banda de Oakland, California, influenciada tanto por Primus como por Devo, Missing Person o Roy Orbison, que dominan el arte del disfraz, ruedan cortometrajes absurdos, invitan a los periodistas a sus exiguos cuartuchos y graban para Burger Records. Para gritar por sus amores rotos y melancólicos, hace quebrar las costuras de su voz felina a la que tiñe con su carisma de gran cantante. Brillantes melodías de los años sesenta, arreglos cinematográficos con un toque James Bond, Auerbach ha esculpido un álbum a su medida. Clásico y con clase. Con ligeros toques de glockenspiel, vibráfonos y carillones y un dulce olor retro a moho.
