Rehuir de la fama normalmente no implica ser tan apagado como el tercer álbum de Norah Jones, Not Too Late, pero dicho eufemismo es algo habitual para la más dulce de las intérpretes/compositoras. Puede que Not Too Late no sea mordaz ni alienante, pero es de hecho una renuncia consciente a su cómoda posición de cantante melódica de cafetería para pasar al arte porque sí. Gran parte del disco es como un libro de bocetos, donde se ve a Jones y Lee Alexander intentando seguir adelante. En vez de ser el resultado final de esos experimentos, el cuadro completo después del boceto, Not Too Late, captura ese proceso y su lanzamiento es toda una declaración artística para Jones:
