This budget-priced U.K. Robert Palmer collection may have been compiled with help from the late blue-eyed soul singer himself, but the absence of his biggest international hit, "Addicted to Love," renders the “Essential” in the anthology’s title a tad questionable. While there are some great cuts here like “She Makes My Day” and “Simply Irresistible,” there are far more comprehensive Palmer overviews available that dutifully chronicle his long and varied career.
