Dutch conductor Edo de Waart is particularly renowned in the United States, having been musical director of various local orchestras and opera companies and conducting memorable premieres of American works such as Adams’ Nixon in China. This recording with the Minnesota Orchestra includes some of the most celebrated American compositions ever, from Gershwin’s hits Rhapsody in Blue (featuring pianist Garrick Ohlsson) and An American in Paris to Bernstein’s symphonic suites from his musicals On the Town and West Side Story. © Warner
