There's more than meets the eye in this third solo album...

What a well kept secret Sara Watkins is… Secret though she may be, she's nevertheless a well-appreciated figure in the world of Americana, who has just published her third album, Young In All The Wrong Ways. This is the first to appear on the excellent new label New West Records, an establishment of fine taste whose roster includes Steve Earle, Corb Lund, Robert Ellis and Daniel Romano... The new Sara Watkins record interweaves, with evident know-how, country, bluegrass, folk and rock'n'roll into her, quite frankly, brilliant songs, all accompanied by her equally brilliant voice. Without trying to reinvent the wheel, the Californian songwriter, who is also an expert fiddler and violinist, has just released her most accomplished album. For those of us who have been listening to her since her Nickel Creek days, her potential as a solo artist comes as no surprise. The eponymous album Sara Watkins, that appeared in 2009 and was followed by Sun Midnight Sun in 2012, had already shown us a glimpse of what was to come ...
