Attention, fans of the now-trendy Gipsy Kings, King Chico Bochikhi is a fan of the nuevo flamenco of these Andalusians...Actually, the only difference...between Ketama and the Kings [seems to be] the former's incorporation of more salsa beats and a jazz tinge now and again...This genre-hopping...does provide the music with a more expansive feel; rooted in tradition (flamenco), but not so purist in its approach that it's inflexible about incorporating other styles...With strong singing from Jose Soto, Ketama's particular brand of world beat runs the gamut from the samba feel of "Pucher Light" to the intoxicating trad flamenco of the title track...
