For the score to his pulpy thriller SMOKIN' ACES, writer/director Joe Carnahan enlisted prolific British composer Clint Mansell, formerly of the alt-rock band Pop Will Eat Itself. Renowned for his bold work on Darren Aronofsky's films (REQUIEM FOR A DREAM, THE FOUNTAIN), Mansell applies his talent for both eclecticism and atmosphere to ACES, as best revealed on the flamenco-tinged "Yo Te Quiero (Oh Ma Corazon)," which finds Latin-inspired guitar lines dancing over ominous keyboard washes.
