Texas native and Mexican-American Rick Trevino is blazing through the vast unchartered multi-cultural musical terrain of country and tejano music: Consider the fact that he released two debut albums--one in English and one in Spanish. And that his first single "Just Enough Rope" competed against the Spanish rendition "Bastante Cordon" on country radio.
Drawing upon his influences (Georges Strait and Jones) on his self-titled debut, Rick Trevino uses his mellifluous baritone to particular effect on barn burners "Honky Tonk Crowd" and "Just Enough Rope" as well as he does on the heart-wrenching ballads "She Can't Say I Didn't Cry" and "What I'll Know Then." And with such a rich and elastic voice is it any wonder that the comparisons to Garth Brooks have been forthcoming?
