Originally distributed purely on handmade cassettes and recorded with minimum equipment through the winter of 1998 into the spring of 1999, these 55 thunderous skits from Odd Nosdam first drew him to the attention of cLOUDDEAD compadres Dose One and Why? and ultimately to the influential Mush label. These unassuming instrumentals, unencumbered by track titles and most weighing in at under a minute in length, set the tone for a whole new age where hip-hop rose above its own arrested development by way of free-thinking Californian imprints Anticon and the aforementioned Mush. Though without much in the way of lyrical narrative, the battle of both form and function keeps things tense -- a barrage of bare sketches forged from a street knowledge and sense of the theatrical that inevitably holds court to more ideas than many fully formed albums from lesser rap draculas.
