By the time Estamos Ai was released by Odeon in 1968, Leny Andrade was a seasoned nightclub performer with at least two albums to her credit. A prótége of pop singer Ivon Curi, Andrade soon distinguished herself as one of Brazil's most accomplished jazz vocalists. Sometimes given to scat-singing with unaffected ease, she has been compared with her contemporary Elza Soares and the divine Flora Purim as well as North American jazzwomen Ella Fitzgerald and Anita O'Day. This pleasant and relaxing album was the result of Andrade's collaboration with Regina Werneck, Mauricio Einhorn, Durval Ferreira, and guitarist Geraldinho Vespar. It will satisfy anyone with a predilection for '60s jazz samba and bossa nova.
