EMI's Best of Dr. Hook offers up a solid mix of pre- and post-Shel Silverstein-era material that does a nice job in illuminating the band's two very distinct eras. At 18 songs, it falls short of more expansive career overviews like 2012's All the Best, but it's stocked with all of the group's most notable hits, including "Sylvia's Mother," "When You're in Love with a Beautiful Woman," "A Little Bit More," and "The Cover of the Rolling Stone," making it a good bet for the casual fan.
