PRÉSENTATION

Johann Hasse fut incontestablement l'idole musicale de son temps : le public le portait aux nues, et les textes de l'époque l'appelaient "caro" ou même "divino Sassone", voire "padre della musica" ! Les puissants d'alors, Frédéric II de Prusse ou Marie Thérèse d'Autriche, rivalisaient pour ses faveurs. Haydn en faisait son modèle, Mozart aspirait à atteindre, à son instar, l'immortalité, Rousseau considérait l'orchestre qu'il dirigeait comme le meilleur d'Europe (les avait-il tous entendus ?...). Après sa mort, Hasse tomba dans l'oubli, ce que Romain Rolland dénonçait comme "une des plus grandes injustices de l'histoire". Rien que ça. Alors, faites-vous vite une idée vous-même et peut-être, dans deux siècles, votre avis fera-t-il l'objet d'une citation dans un article électronique. Avouons tout de même que cette musique est de très, très grande qualité. Quant à ceux qui se demandent ce qu'est un gallichon (qui accompagne certaines sonates) : c'est une sorte de luth à six cordes doubles.
