The entire Columbia Recordings catalogue of Glenn Gould has now been released by Sony Classical, remastered in 24-Bit Hi-Res. To mark the occasion, Qobuz met with musicologist Gould expert, Michael Stegemann. He has, more than any other, dedicated himself to the Gould phenomenon, and dealt with the mastering of the various studio recordings. In this inteview, he describes his work on the remasters; for source material, both analogue and digital recordings were available. Of course, Stegemann also addresses the importance of Bach, and brings us closer to understanding Gould's relation with other composers, like Mozart and Beethoven.
