New Year, New Music. No one can predict the future... but here at Qobuz we have gotten pretty good at predicting the world's next favourite artists. So here they are, our Ones to Watch 2023 predictions!

Kadhja Bonet

Airy vocals coupled with a hardy dash of jazz, soul and RnB, Kadhja Bonet stepped onto the scene in 2015 with her EP The Visitor. Later in 2018, her heralded debut Childqueen piqued the interest of some big names such as Childish Gambino and Anderson.Paak. Growing up with a classical background in violin with an opera singer for a father, Bonet's influences are few and far between, which can be seen on her 2022 4-track EP JGS, which is 80s electro-pop synths meets Florence Welch-esque vocals. With Bonet's music striding hand in hand with the revival of Kate Bush's Running Up that Hill, we are holding out for that new album to arrive in 2023.

Adam Naas

This young French singer has been compared to the likes of Michael Jackson and Prince by the press, however, Adam Naas does not fill the shoes of a doom-fated star, quite the opposite. Naas' music is brave, as he bares his dark, romantic soul in his lyrics and voice. That voice! He fluctuates between the baritone of an old crooner and a falsetto unparalleled by his contemporaries with such charisma and ease. Taking from the worlds of soul, folk, pop and indie-rock, Adam Naas is sure to be a worldwide phenomenon in no time.

Miss Grit

New-York based Korean-American musician Margaret Sohn creates the sound of the future, very much in line with predicted trends for 2023. Their music is an outlet for self-expression and true introspection, whilst still providing the listener with catchy hooks that we can really sink our teeth into. Producing their music themselves, Miss Grit provides a window into Margaret Sohn's soul. Similar to the early sounds of St. Vincent, their 2023 debut album Follow the Cyborg is one that should be on the very top of your radar this year.

Blondshell

Heralded as "indie music's new name to know", Blondshell (Sabrina Teitelbaum) is making a splash as she begins a tour of the US and Europe in 2023. Captivating from the first moment, Blondshell's music is honest and confessional in nature. Her vocals glide over creeping guitars, often followed up by instrumental moments of rage such as on her latest single Veronica Mars. Without a doubt she is about to be one of the next big artists in the indie-rock scene, perhaps following in the explosive path of the UK's Wet Leg.

Mette Henriette

Hailing from Trondheim, Norway, Mette Henriette was surrounded by a thriving jazz scene growing up and is now making waves in her own special way. Captivating, bizarre and fascinating all at the same time, ever since this composer/jazz saxophonist's incredible debut in 2015, we have been begging for more. With her latest single Drifting which is eerily minimalistic but ever-changing, we are excited to see how Mette Henriette shapes the future of experimental jazz, classical, ambient, and everything in between.
