Chad Daniels

A comedian who specializes in material revealing his skewed, often dark view of family life, Chad Daniels was born in Fergus Falls, Minnesota on March 2, 1975. Daniels got his start as a standup when he appeared at an open-mike night at the Acme Comedy Company in Minneapolis. Daniels' set went well enough that he was offered a job as the MC at Westward Ho, a comedy club in Grand Forks, North Dakota. (Daniels himself described the North Dakota gig as "performing six shows a week and having to host karaoke after each show in the dead of winter 60 miles from the Canadian border while living in a 6x8 motel room next to a french fry factory.") For good or ill, the Westward Ho job meant Daniels had turned pro, and he soon hit the road, playing venues across the country. In 2003, Daniels was a contestant in Comedy Central's Laugh Riots competition, reaching the finals, and the following year he appeared at Montreal's Just for Laughs comedy festival. With his profile on the rise, Daniels made his first performance on network television in 2004, doing a set on The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn. He'd later go on to perform on Craig Ferguson's chat show, as well as Conan O'Brien's shows on NBC and TBS. Daniels self-released his first album, Two Minutes for Stale Hacking, before signing with Stand Up! Records, which issued Busy Being Awesome (2009), You're the Best (2012), and Natural Selection (2014). Daniels stayed busy with touring and television appearances, as well as appearing in his own standup special, As Is, and winning the $10,000 grand prize in the 2012 Gilda's Laughfest competition. In 2017, Daniels teamed with 800 Pound Gorilla Records to release his fifth album, Footprints on the Moon.
