Pete Perignon

Pete Perignon is a Latin Grammy-winning bandleader, musical director, and master percussionist. He is also the son of legendary salsa bandleader Don Perignon. In addition to leading his own band, he has worked as both a session player and musical director for many artists, including Gilberto Santa Rosa, Yandel, the Johnny Rivera Orchestra, and Victor Manuelle. Perignon was born in Carolin, Puerto Rico. While he obviously received ample musical training at home, he began a formal musical education at age seven at the Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music. At age ten he attended the School of Fine Arts and studied with Raúl Rodriguez and David Marcano. He began his performance career there, and at 15 turned professional when he became a member of the orchestra N'Klabe, remaining until he was 19. In 2008 he joined NG2 for five years as a touring and recording member. It was during this period that he established himself as a go-to session player and in-demand musical director, working with Rivera, Frankie Ruiz, Jr., Charlie Cruz, and several more. In 2015, Perignon won a Latin Grammy for his work directing Santa Rosa's band on Necesito un Bolero, and made his recorded debut leading his own band on the Select-O-Hits album ¡Aquí Llegó! Two years later in 2017, Perignon teamed with his father to release The Perignon's Family Compilation for the label.
