Höhner

Formed in 1972 by Peter Werner and Janus Fröhlich, Höhner (Kölsch for "The Chickens") are a German pop band from Cologne. They began performing under the name Ne Höhnerhoff and scored their first hit in 1974 with the single "Scheiß ejal, ob do Hohn bess oder Hahn," which is still sung to this day during Cologne's carnival festivities. They changed their name to De Höhner in 1975 and released their studio debut Ich well noh Hus in 1978, spawning a slew of hit singles including the carnival classics "Blootwoosch" and "Kölsch un elecker Mädche." Frontman Peter Horn parted ways with the group in 1987 and was replaced by Henning Krautmacher, who made his official debut on the album Für Dich later that year. During the 1990s, the band released twelve albums and finally achieved success outside of their hometown. In 2003, the single "Viva Colonia," included in the album of the same name, reached Number 20 on the German charts and obtained gold certification. A few years later, they scored their first Number 1 with the single "Wenn nicht jetzt, wann dann?," which was also performed at the 2007 World Men's Handball Championship finals. Despite many lineup changes over the years, Höhner managed to stay relevant throughout the 2010s with titles such as Alles op Anfang (2016) and Wir sind für die Liebe gemacht (2018), which entered the German charts at Number 15 and 32, respectively.
