Son nom buzze et ses activités se multiplient, bref il était temps que Thomas Roussel alias Prequell publie enfin son véritable premier album. Des travaux avec le grand gourou de l’électro Jeff Mills (Blue Potential et Light From The Outside World) et des collaborations live avec les acteurs du monde de la mode (Chanel, Kenzo, Dior Homme), son approche musicale et son utilisation singulière des cordes ont attiré les oreilles les plus aiguisées. En allant puiser l’inspiration dans sa formation en musique orchestrale, son admiration pour les grandes B.O. de film (John Barry, John Williams) et la créativité exacerbée de Craig Armstrong, Massive Attack et Björk, il avait publié en 2015 un EP remarqué, cinq titres présents sur The Future Comes Before enregistré entre Air Studio et Abbey Road, avec deux grandes formations symphoniques : le LSO (London Symphony Orchestra) et celle d’Isobel Griffiths. Surtout, avec ce disque, Prequell assume pleinement son ambition pop et offre à cinq de ses titres les voix d’or de Rae Morris, Fyfe, Claire Laffut, Shy Girls et Cruel Youth alias Teddy Sinclair. © CM/Qobuz
