Surface To Air Missive
Neo-psychedelia crackerjack Surface to Air Missive is a creation of bandleader Taylor Ross, formerly of indie electronic outfit Dream Love. Ross recorded the project's eponymous debut in his hometown of Tallahassee, Florida, playing all the instruments himself. Despite breaking multiple bones in an accident during a drum session, he was able to finish the record, a trippy mix of Southern and experimental rock. It was released by Leaving and Stones Throw in 2013. Expanding to a band of four for live shows, Surface to Air Missive settled into warmer psych-pop for the follow-up, Third Missive, before relocating to Athens, Georgia, home of major influence Of Montreal. They supported Kevin Barnes' group on tour in 2015, and a third LP, A V, arrived in 2016, also on Leaving.
