Le président des studios Marvel, Kevin Feige, avait déjà vendu la mèche depuis fort longtemps. Depuis la promotion de Doctor Strange précisément, au cours de laquelle il avait dévoilé par inadvertance le nom de l’homme qui serait en charge de mettre en musique les nouvelles aventures de Spiderman : Michael Giacchino. Le compositeur américain s’est d’abord fait remarquer au cours des années 1990 pour son travail sur des jeux vidéo tels que Le Monde perdu : Jurassic Park ou encore la série Medal of Honor.
Mais c’est bel et bien au cinéma que le natif du New Jersey a davantage laissé son empreinte, notamment sur des productions du réalisateur JJ Abrams telles que Mission Impossible III ou Star Trek, sans oublier un travail conséquent avec ce dernier sur les séries télévisées Lost ou Alias. Avant de travailler sur La Planète des singes : la suprématie, également sur les écrans en 2017, ou Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Michael Giacchino a tissé sa toile avec l’homme-araignée.
Attraction-majeure de cette bande originale, le « Theme from Spiderman », puisant son essence dans les épisodes de la série télévisée originale de 1967, ouvre les débats avec réussite. C’est un déluge de cordes familier qui s’abat sur l’auditeur tandis qu’une guitare finement saturée reproduit le thème en arrière-plan. Toute la réussite du chef d’orchestre est d’avoir composé des thèmes particulièrement diversifiés, à l’image de « The World Is Changing », tour à tour galvanisant puis subitement angoissant. Les cordes alternent le jeu délié et celui en staccato, plus oppressant, tandis que les cuivres renforcent la puissance des arrangements. Les éléments rythmiques sont quant à eux toujours subtilement employés, même s’il arrive qu’ils soient quelque peu stéréotypés comme sur le plus lourd « Academic Decommitment ».
Le rythme est pourtant au cœur de l’œuvre de Michael Giacchino, qui n’a pas son pareil pour mener les débats et rendre totalement visuelles les interprétations de l’orchestre, comme sur l’irrespirable « High Tech Heist » et le presque futuriste « Drag Racing » ou encore le plus léger « On a Ned-to-Know Basis ». Si le film divise déjà les fans, qui stigmatisent une prise de distance maladroite avec le héros original, dont le fameux « sens de l’araignée » a été mis de côté, nul doute que la bande-son devrait faire l’unanimité.

Le président des studios Marvel, Kevin Feige, avait déjà vendu la mèche depuis fort longtemps. Depuis la promotion de Doctor Strange précisément, au cours de laquelle il avait dévoilé par inadvertance le nom de l’homme qui serait en charge de mettre en musique les nouvelles aventures de Spiderman : Michael Giacchino. Le compositeur américain s’est d’abord fait remarquer au cours des années 1990 pour son travail sur des jeux vidéo tels que Le Monde perdu : Jurassic Park ou encore la série Medal of Honor.
Mais c’est bel et bien au cinéma que le natif du New Jersey a davantage laissé son empreinte, notamment sur des productions du réalisateur JJ Abrams telles que Mission Impossible III ou Star Trek, sans oublier un travail conséquent avec ce dernier sur les séries télévisées Lost ou Alias. Avant de travailler sur La Planète des singes : la suprématie, également sur les écrans en 2017, ou Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Michael Giacchino a tissé sa toile avec l’homme-araignée.
Attraction-majeure de cette bande originale, le « Theme from Spiderman », puisant son essence dans les épisodes de la série télévisée originale de 1967, ouvre les débats avec réussite. C’est un déluge de cordes familier qui s’abat sur l’auditeur tandis qu’une guitare finement saturée reproduit le thème en arrière-plan. Toute la réussite du chef d’orchestre est d’avoir composé des thèmes particulièrement diversifiés, à l’image de « The World Is Changing », tour à tour galvanisant puis subitement angoissant. Les cordes alternent le jeu délié et celui en staccato, plus oppressant, tandis que les cuivres renforcent la puissance des arrangements. Les éléments rythmiques sont quant à eux toujours subtilement employés, même s’il arrive qu’ils soient quelque peu stéréotypés comme sur le plus lourd « Academic Decommitment ».
Le rythme est pourtant au cœur de l’œuvre de Michael Giacchino, qui n’a pas son pareil pour mener les débats et rendre totalement visuelles les interprétations de l’orchestre, comme sur l’irrespirable « High Tech Heist » et le presque futuriste « Drag Racing » ou encore le plus léger « On a Ned-to-Know Basis ». Si le film divise déjà les fans, qui stigmatisent une prise de distance maladroite avec le héros original, dont le fameux « sens de l’araignée » a été mis de côté, nul doute que la bande-son devrait faire l’unanimité.
