« Händel goes wild » : c’est un peu « Haendel se lâche » et en effet, le moins que l’on puisse dire, c’est que dans cet album signé Christina Pluhar, il se lâche jusque dans les extrêmes. Car la harpiste, théorbiste et luthiste autrichienne s’est emparée d’une bonne poignée d’arias, mouvements de concertos et ouvertures du compositeur (ainsi qu’un peu de Vivaldi) pour les confier non seulement aux musiciens baroques de l’ensemble L’Arpeggiata, mais aussi à une demi-douzaine de musiciens de jazz de tous styles. Il en résulte une relecture tour à tour manouche, klezmer, salsa, New Orleans, lounge, blues etc., que chacun peut adorer ou détester selon son propre degré d’adaptabilité. Il est évident que clarinette et piano dans ce langage peut en dérouter plus d’un… Le principe de Pluhar est simple : Haendel a lui-même repris, remodelé, trafiqué, maquillé, pillé, réécrit en puisant autant chez lui-même que chez d’autres compositeurs, toujours avec sa plume personnelle et dans le style de son temps le plus immédiat. Alors pourquoi n’en pas faire autant à notre époque ! Quoi qu’il en soit, ce mélange d’instruments et voix baroques avec des instruments et des genres musicaux du XXe siècle est des plus ébouriffants. Parmi les artistes invités, on notera le clarinettiste Gianluigi Trovesi, le pianiste Francesco Turrisi et le contrebassiste Boris Schmidt dans le domaine du jazz, mais aussi le contreténor Valer Sabadus et la soprano Nuria Rial. © SM/Qobuz
