Man kann nicht sagen, dass Van Morrisons Einspielungen in den letzten zwanzig Jahren einen so bleibenden Eindruck hinterlassen haben wie die Meisterwerke Anfang der 70er Jahre, etwa Astral Weeks, Moondance oder Veedon Fleece. Mit Born To Sing: No Plan B feierte der irische Barde 2012 ein schönes Comeback, und bewies damit, dass er noch zulegen konnte. Vier Jahre später bestätigte Keep Me Singing dieses Gefühl mit neuen Songs, in denen Van The Man sich nicht nur den altersbedingten Einschränkungen anpasste – er singt nicht mehr wie noch 1969 – sondern diese sogar hervorragend überwältigte, weil er es schaffte, jedem Stück eine lebendige und gemütliche Atmosphäre zu verleihen. In seiner gewohnten köstlichen Kombination von Soul, Jazz und Blues, die sein Markenzeichen ist, gibt es nun weniger Leidenschaft, weniger Überschwänglichkeit, dafür mehr Feingefühl und Herz. Der Grundgedanke ist auf diesem Roll With The Punches immer noch derselbe, auch wenn es diesmal im Großen und Ganzen aus Wiederaufnahmen aus dem Blues- und Soul-Repertoire besteht (Bo Diddley, T-Bone Walker, Count Basie, Sam Cooke, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Lightnin' Hopkins, Mose Allison, Little Walter, Bo Diddley), dafür gibt es aber fünf Originalsongs als Extra.
