Kenji Wu
After competing in the TV reality talent show 'New Artist Fight Game' in 2000, the Taiwanese singer-songwriter Kenji Wu signed a deal with Virgin and he looked set for a successful career in music. Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of a top team of producers and musicians Wu's debut album, 'Tomorrow, Alone' (2000) received a very lukewarm reception from both fans and critics and his career as a singer stalled. Wu decided to take a brief hiatus from the music industry and concentrated his artistic flair into an acting career, winning roles in popular Taiwanese TV dramas such as 'Peach Girl' and 'Moonlight Forest'.
His foray into acting helped establish his name in Taiwan and gave him the confidence to re-launch his musical career in 2004 with a self-titled second album written entirely by himself. The album reached number seven in the charts and kick-started Wu's singing ambitions.
With twelve studio albums to his credit, Wu has established himself as a popular Chinese-language singer and has also managed to combine this with a successful acting career.
