Kevin Ross

Thoughtful lyrics and deeply expressive vocals are constants throughout Kevin Ross' body of work as a contemporary R&B artist. Elevated as a solo act by a deal with Motown, the singer/songwriter and producer made his full-length debut with The Awakening (2017) before hitting his stride independently. Since establishing Art Society Music Group, he has issued the two-volume Audacity EPs (2020) and Drive 2 (2021), and returned after a short break with the EP series Midnight Microdose, Vol. 1 and 2 (2023). Immersed in music throughout his upbringing, Kevin Ross graduated from a performing arts high school in his native Washington, D.C., and earned a scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music. While majoring in contemporary writing and production, he won a competition on the Wild Out Wednesday segment on BET's 106 & Park program. His performance was caught by producer Troy Taylor, which led to contributions to albums by the likes of Trey Songz, Noel Gourdin, Johnny Gill, and SWV, along with independently released solo material. Signed to Motown as a solo artist, Ross made his label debut in 2014 with Dialogue in the Grey, a four-track EP on which he was joined by T.I. (on lead track "Don't Say You Will," a ballad) and Ne-Yo (on the emotive slow jam "Overrated"). From there, he progressed with "Long Song Away," a late-2016 single that topped Billboard's Adult R&B chart before the arrival of his debut full-length, The Awakening, the following March. An EP entitled Drive followed six months later. Ross left Motown to launch his own label, Art Society Music Group, and charted in 2019 with "Thing Called Love" before he released Audacity, Vol. 1 and Audacity, Vol. 2, 2020 EPs subsequently combined as Audacity Complete. In 2021, he offered a sequel to Drive, Drive 2, featuring the number nine Adult R&B hit "Looking for Love." Ross then introduced his next project, a three-part EP series titled Midnight Microdose. Its first volume appeared in May 2023, led by the yearning single "Look My Way." It was followed four months later by Midnight Microdose, Vol. 2, featuring the Eric Bellinger-assisted "Ready for It."
