BONAPARTE

Thanks to their lo-fi punk aesthetic and their bizarre stage performances, Berlin-based rock band Bonaparte are sometimes labeled as "visual trash punk." Founded in 2006 by Tobias Jundt, Bonaparte work more as a collective than as a typical band, and their outrageous live shows quickly garnered them attention in the musical underground. They signed to Staatsakt, where they released their first album, Too Much, in 2008, followed in 2009 by Remuched, a double album of remixes and live tracks. In 2010, their song "Anti Anti" was featured in the movie 13 Semester, and with their next two albums (2010's My Horse Likes You and 2012's Sorry, We're Open), the group attracted larger audiences without watering down its wild mixture of electro punk, synth pop, rock, and hip-hop.
