Tone Norum
Tone is the younger sister of former Europe guitarist John Norum. She debuted in 1986 with One Of A Kind, an album written, arranged and played on by Joey Tempest (also of Europe) and her brother. Predictably, the musical direction was very close to that of her sibling’s concern: melodic pop metal, with the occasional power ballad. This Time followed a similar pattern, but used session musicians and the Billy Steinberg/Tom Kelly writing team who had previously penned hits for Madonna and Whitney Houston. The result was a highly polished melodic rock album in the style of Heart and Starship. Red saw Tone move away from AOR towards folk rock.
