Håkan Hardenberger

Swedish trumpet player Håkan Hardenberger is one of the world’s leading soloists, renowed both for his performances of the classical repertory and as an unflinching pioneer of many a major new trumpet work. Hardenberger has been performing for years now with the world’s leading orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, Boston Symphony, Wiener Philharmoniker, Swedish Radio Symphony, Berliner Philharmoniker and Philharmonia Orchestra. The works written for – and ardently championed by – Hardenberger stand as key highlights in the repertory and include those by Harrison Birtwistle, Brett Dean, Hans Werner Henze, Olga Neuwirth, Arvo Pärt, Mark-Anthony Turnage or HK Gruber. As if being one of the world’s leading trumpet players was not enough, Hardenberger has taken up conducting, appearing on the podium of first-class orchestras such as the BBC Philharmonic, the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, the Swedish Chamber Orchestra, the Dresden Philharmonic, the RTE National Symphony in Dublin and the Malmö Symphony. His extensive discography on the Philips, EMI, Deutsche Grammophon, BIS and Ondine labels includes recordings of great and famous classics, as well as considerably more adventurous works both in the contemporary repertoire and the world of forgotten or neglected masterpieces both recent and from years bygone. © SM/Qobuz
