Dagny
Pop singer and songwriter Dagny had a European hit with an appearance on SeeB's "Drink About" (2018) and earned a writing credit on Katy Perry's U.S. Top 20 single "Never Really Over" (2019) before finding broader fame with her own material. Her bright and earnest full-length debut, 2020's Strangers/Lovers, went platinum twice over in her native Norway. She maintained a regular presence on the singles chart at home with songs like 2021's "Pretty" (with Astrid S) and the next year's "Brightsider."
Dagny Norvoll Sandvik hails from the northern city of Tromsø. The daughter of jazz guitarist/composer Øystein Norvoll and jazz singer Marit Sandvik, she relocated to London, England, in her twenties before her debut single, "Backbeat," appeared in September 2015. It quickly became a streaming hit, garnering half a million plays in its first week and millions more in the months that followed. Her debut EP, Ultraviolet, arrived in 2016. The five-track collection included the title track and "Fool's Gold" with BØRNS. The "Wearing Nothing" single was issued in 2017, with the atmospheric "That Feeling When" following in early 2018. That year, she also joined SeeB for the single "Drink About" and the Wombats on "Turn." "Drink About" reached the Top 25 in Sweden and went as high as number two on the singles chart in Norway. Her first collaboration of 2019 found her pairing with electronic producer Steve Aoki on the booming track "Hit Your Heart." It cracked Norway's Top 40. That year, Katy Perry incorporated Dagny's "Love You Like That' into her own hit, "Never Really Over," earning a songwriting credit for the Norwegian.
Helped along by the Top Three single "Somebody" and Top 40 hit "Come Over," Dagny's full-length solo debut, Strangers/Lovers, went to number two in Norway after its release on her own Little Daggers imprint (Universal) in October 2020. She followed that success with a Top Ten hit, "Pretty," a collaboration with Astrid S, in 2021. Dagny returned to the Norwegian singles chart in 2022 with the driving "Brightsider."
