Amit Trivedi

Although celebrated for his work as a playback singer, lyricist, and songwriter, Amit Trivedi is best known as a Bollywood film composer, even winning the prestigious National Film Award for Best Music Direction in 2010 for his work on the Hindi film Dev.D. Born to a Gujarati family in Mumbai, Maharashtra, on April 8, 1979, he grew up listening to traditional Gujarati folk songs and began composing music at 20 years old. His early projects found him working on promotional jingles, television music, and even Abhijeet Sawant's sophomore album, Junoon. He then moved into the film industry, making his soundtrack debut with 2008's Aamir before earning widespread acclaim with Dev.D. Featuring not only his songwriting, but his singing, too, the Dev.D soundtrack won multiple awards and served as a springboard for the rest of Amit Trivedi's career. He wrote music for additional films like 2009's Wake Up Sid, 2011's No One Killed Jessica, 2014's Queen, and more than 40 movies throughout the 2010s, earning four Filmfare Awards and five Global Indian Music Academy Awards along the way. He worked as a playback singer, too, climbing the Indian charts with Kedarnath's "Namo Namo" and receiving award nominations for his performances of Kai Po Che!'s "Manja" and Andhadhun's "Naina Da Kya Kasoor." Amit Trivedi remained prolific during the early 2020s, as well, composing the music for the Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam, and Telugu remakes of the 2014 Hindi hit Queen.
